Piero Frassi
Docente presso Siena Jazz University. T.Mabellini di Pistoia, Pentagramma di Pisa.

Inizia a pubblicare cd a suo nome con l’etichetta Philology, con la quale tra il 2008 e il 2010 pubblica “Everything We Love”, “Serenity” (con la partecipazione di Lee Konitz) e “Konitz plays Konitz” (Lee Konitz feat. Piero Frassi trio).

Dal 2018 inizia una collaborazione con l’etichetta Atlantis/The Saifam Group, con la quale pubblica “Skydiver” (Piero Frassi Circles trio, insieme a Gabriele Evangelista e Bernardo Guerra), “Mirall Circles” (Piero Frassi Circles trio & Greta Mirall), ” Send One Your Love’’, “Reason Why” (in trio con Stefania Scarinzi e Nico Gori, 2018), “Alright” (con il trio Escape Lines insieme a Marco Galiero e Andrea Beninati, 2019), “Our Factory’’ (con Dimitri Grechi Espinoza, Michael Baker e Gabriele Evangelista feat. Claudia Tellini, 2019).

Come sideman e arrangiatore figura nella maggior parte dei cd di Michela Lombardi: “Small Day Tomorrow” (Philology, 2004),“Swingaholic” (Philology, 2008), “So April Hearted” (Map, 2009), “Michela Lombardi & Phil Woods Sing & Play The Phil Woods Songbook – vol.1 & vol.2” con Phil Woods (Philology, 2010), “Solitary Moon – Inside The Music Of Johnny Mandel” feat. Emanuele Cisi, “Shape of my heart – The Music Of Sting” e “When We Dance – The Music Of Sting vol. 2’’ con Gabriele Evangelista e Bernardo Guerra,’’Believe in Spring’’-The Music of Michel Legrand con Gabriele Evangelista e Andrea Beninati, “Once Upon a Time” (Philology 2016) con Emilia Zamuner, Massimo Moriconi, Massimo Manzi.

Dal 2004 una stabile collaborazione – anche in veste di direttore musicale – con la cantante Karima Ammar, con la quale pubblica il cd “Amare Le Differenze” (Sony Music, 2009) e “Close To You – Karima sings Bacharach” (Universal-Decca, 2015), “No Filter” (Jando music – Parco della Musica 2021), “Xmas” (2022) e l’ultimo album “Canta Autori” (Jando music 2025)

Collabora stabilmente con Nico Gori in diverse formazioni: col Nico Gori SeaSide 4tet in “Opposites” (Philology, 2012), col Nico Gori Swing 10tet nei dischi “Dancing Swing Party”, “Swingin’ Hips’’ , “The Tentet Is Coming To Town” , ”Swing Classic” (Saifam 2021), “Oltre il blu” (Parco della Musica 2023).

Ha suonato in festival e jazz club come Umbria Jazz, Veneto jazz, Ancona jazz, Blue Note di Milano, Casa del Jazz e Auditorium Parco della Musica di Roma, Ascona Jazz, Metastasio Jazz, Duc des Lombards di Parigi, Tour di Umbria Jazz in Cina (nelle città di Chengdu, Jinan, Qingdao, Changsha, Shanghai), JZ Festival, e a Pechino presso l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura e il Teatro dell’Opera,Teatro Casinò Rama di Orilla-Toronto, ‘Piano Room’ per la radio BBC 2, BBC 1 TV, True Icon Hall Theatredi Bangkok, Teatro Nazionale di Algeri, Istituto Italiano di cultura di Belgrado

He began releasing CDs under his own name on the Philology label, with which, between 2008 and 2010, he released “Everything We Love,” “Serenity” (featuring Lee Konitz), and “Konitz Plays Konitz” (Lee Konitz feat. Piero Frassi Trio).
